Thomsons Cycles Cyclo Cross Race

Posted on 30th October, 2012

Well, the Halloween 'Howler' certainly lived up to its name! The wind howled and the rain lashed.

After wall-to-wall sunshine for a week prior to the race, the bad weather blew in just in time for the gun going off and the first riders talking to the course. I think it's fair to say it only got worse from then on! Jammy the commentator, who has been involved on cyclocross for years and years said it was the wildest (in terms of the weather) Scottish Cross race he's ever seen. So already we have gone down in history!

There were 2 Couriers out in the juniors/vets/women's race, Sean Gordon and Mark Forrest. Sean took the overall lead in lap 2 and put a good gap into Gordon Dickson who was hunting him down in second place. Sean held him off, but eventually Gordon took the lead and held on to the finish. Sean finished a great ride second overall and took a convincing win in the Junior category.

Marky Mark had a break from his course-building and hurdle-constructing duties to get kitted out and race. He put in an impressive ride and finished in the top half off a strong field.
